Crowns

At Birch Street Dental Care, our goal is to provide cosmetic dentistry that is undetectable to the untrained eye. We want your dental restorations to look just like your natural teeth so no one will be able to tell that you have had dental work done. We create crowns and fillings that look like your natural teeth. We can sculpt crowns or caps over your existing teeth which provides the tooth with a natural look and function again. Crowns are an excellent choice for teeth that have been damaged or are decayed beyond repair.

Crowns are used for long-lasting correction of major dental problems such as:

  • Misshapen teeth
  • Badly broken teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Severely stained teeth

How long does it take to get a crown?

Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth and fit it with a temporary crown of either plastic or metal.

For the following visit we will remove the temporary crown, and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown in place and you will have a new fully functioning tooth.

How long will a crown last?

A dental crown is highly durable and with the proper care can last as long as 20 to 30 years. We create crowns that match the shape, size and color of your teeth giving you a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.

Express Crowns

Matching a dental restoration to the shade and color of your natural teeth is a challenge that we willingly take on. Thanks to advanced technology, Birch Street Dental Care is able to match your dental crown color precisely to the color of your existing teeth. We have a great dental team as well as an on-site dental lab to produce express crowns for our patients that blend in with your natural smile.

Express crowns are made of porcelain and do not have a metal backing. They can be bonded directly to the prepared tooth structure. When light transmits through the crown and tooth structure, the crown appears as a natural tooth, rather than the tell-tale metal cover that one would typically imagine for a crown. The result is a perfectly natural looking tooth that you will feel good about!
